Lois was born near Sterling, Ohio on September 24, 1926 to the late Elmer and Sarah (Liechty) Meyer. After high school, Lois obtained a Bachelor’s degree in education and went on to teach for over 25 years in a variety of schools in Ohio and Illinois. On June 7, 1952, Lois married Paul King, who preceded her in death on October 29, 2016. Lois was a member of the Martin’s Creek Mennonite Church in Millersburg. Throughout her marriage she was actively involved in church work as a pastor’s wife. She was also involved in numerous women’s ministries in the church, always focused on serving others. Lois was an avid reader, and with family and friends she loved to listen to music, prepare meals, and play table games. Her faith in Jesus was her rock and foundation throughout her life.
Lois is survived by her four children: Sara (Marlin Yoder) King, David (Laurel) King, Daniel King, and Miriam (Michael) Blosser; seven granddaughters: Eva (Elmer IV) McClave, Elisabeth (Jacob Hartzler) Yoder, Alyssa (Rafael) Marins, Rebecca (James Kawagoe) King, Katie (Andrew) Gough, Andrea (Richard) Slocum, and Sylvia (Jonathan) Meinema; seven great-grandchildren: Estella, Ira, Noah, Weston, Sullivan, Savannah, Oliver, and one great-grandchild on the way; two siblings, Bernice (Meyer) Miller and Vernon (Geneva) Meyer, three sisters-in-law: Irene Meyer, Jocele Meyer, and Miriam Meyer; and many nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, Lois is preceded in death by three brothers: Paul, Art, and Fred Meyer; and one brother-in-law, Sturges Miller.
Calling hours for Lois will be held at Martin’s Creek Mennonite Church on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 from 10-11 am. with a memorial service that will begin at 11 am. Burial will take place at a later date.
