Herman McVay Jr.

Jr was born on June 22, 1935 in Winfield, West Virginia to the late Herman and Hattie (Roach) McVay. On May 21, 1955, he married his one and only soul mate, Oscarine “Sissy” (Albert) McVay, who preceded him in death in 2001. Jr was a member of Village Baptist church in West Lafayette. He owned and operated McVay Masonry for over 30 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, whittling animals for everyone, and spending time under his shade trees waving at vehicles going up and down the road.

Jr is survived by his son Michael H. and his wife Becky (Davis) McVay of Coshocton; four grandchildren: Angela (Derrick) Beatty, Libby (Michael) Schott, Michael McVay II, all of Coshocton, and Nichole (Adam) Napier of Columbus; four great-grandchildren: Lane Beatty, Colt Beatty, Gabrielle Schott, and Gavin Schott. Jr is also survived by his sisters, Alice Zickafoose, Pauline Jennings, and Darlene McVay.

Along with his wife, Jr is preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Pauline McVay, who passed in 1983, and his brothers and sisters, Denny McVay, Letta Watson, Phyllis Raines, Marilyn Watson, and Jimmy McVay.

Calling hours will be held from 12 pm to 1 pm on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1 pm with Pastor A.C. Dockery officiating. Burial will follow at Coshocton County Memory Gardens with Pastor Mark Granger officiating.

The family would like to personally thank College Park Home Care Plus, especially Ellen Thomas, Marcia, Kelly, Danna, and Penny, for their excellent care and compassion over the past two years.
