After graduating from West Lafayette High School in 1964, Gary joined the United States Navy, proudly serving his country for four years before being honorably discharged. On September 16, 1967, he married the love of his life, Sandra (Gaskill) Miller who survives.
Gary was an accomplished welder, pipefitter, and millwright for Stone Container, working for over 46 years before retiring in 2014. He loved the outdoors and hunting. He was a gun dealer most of his life. He put family first and was an excellent example of what a father should be. Gary was a dedicated husband and loved being with his wife Sandra. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who meant the world to him.
Along with his wife Sandra of 53 years, Gary is survived by his two children, Michael (Michelle) Miller of Muskegon, MI and Michelle (Kevin) McCaffree of Bolivar; six grandchildren, Tyler, Hannah, Kelsey, Zoe, Luke and Eli; two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Conner; step-mother, Laura June Miller, step-siblings, Carol Hampton, Steve Hampton and Cheryl (Warren) Peiter.
Along with his parents, Gary is preceded in death by his son, Montgomery “Monty” Miller; brother, Samuel and sister, Sandra.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Due to health and safety concerns related to COVID-19, social distancing measures will be in place and there will be a limited number of people inside the funeral home at a time. We also ask that you please wear a facemask at all times for the health and safety of our guest and employees.
Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at the funeral home with Pastors John and Sharon Kirch officiating. Burial will follow at Fairfield Cemetery with Military Honors being conducted by the Coshocton County Veterans Council.
