Judge David William Burns, age 68, of Coshocton, Ohio, passed away at Terre Haute Regional Hospital on Friday, September, 16, 2011 in Terre Haute, Indiana. David graduated from Coshocton High School in 1961, was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame in 1965 B.A., and the University of Cincinnati Law School in 1968 J.D.. He worked as an attorney for many years before becoming Juvenile Probate Judge. David was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was also affiliated with many organization including, Chairman of Coshocton Republican Party, Board of Elections, Coshocton Foundation President, Port Authority, Coshocton Country Club, Coshocton Elks Lodge #376, The American Red Cross, Coshocton City Board of Health, and President of the Coshocton County Bar Association. On June 19, 1965 David married his loving wife Mary Cathryn (Hampton) Burns who survives. David is also survived by his daughter, Megan (Tom) Hanrahan of St. Louis, Missouri; and two grandchildren, Liam and Ellie Hanrahan. In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his son David Burns, and his brother, L. Timothy Burns. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, September 23, 2011 at 10:30am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with father William Hritsko officiating. Burial will take place on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 10:30am at St. Joseph Cemetery, 6440 High Street, Lockbourne, OH 43137. Visitation will be held at Given-Dawson Funeral Home on Thursday, September 22, 2011 from 4:00pm-8:00pm, and one hour prior to mass on Friday at Given-Dawson Funeral Home.
