Bill graduated from Orange Grove High School and attended Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy . William served two separate terms in the United States Navy. In between those 2 terms, he dedicated his life to keeping the streets of Corpus Christi safe as a sergeant of the Corpus Christi Police Department. He was a well educated, honest, hard-working man. He loved animals, fishing and golfing. Some other things he enjoyed were, reading, crossword puzzles, and history. He was a huge history buff and always had a good book to read.
Bill was a devoted husband, dad, and brother and his memory will live on in his loved ones hearts forever.
He is survived by his daughter Dawn Michelle Lewis; and brother Robert Van Volkenburg (Marie Van Volkenburg). William was preceded in death by his wife Susanne Van Volkenburg; and parents Fred Van Volkenburg and Edna Van Volkenburg.
An inurnment for Bill will be held Monday, March 6, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at:
