Victor Chapa Jr.

Our much loved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and cousin, Victor Chapa, Jr., 69, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on July 6, 2015, surrounded by his loved ones.

Victor was born on April 8, 1946, in Kingsville, Texas, to the late Victor Chapa, Sr., of Kingsville, Texas, and Isabel Perkins of San Diego, California. He was a big brother to Roy Chapa (Lupita) of Kingsville, Texas; Rene (Terry) of Helotes, Texas; and Nelly Martinez (Jesus) of Victorville, California.

On October 4, 1964, Victor married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Carla Chapa. Together they traveled around the world. Their travels began in Germany where Victor was stationed as he served our country in the United States Army from 1965-1968. Through their love and devotion to each other, they welcomed three loving and faithful daughters, Isabel Connor (Steve) of Corpus Christi, Texas; Claudia Lichtenberger (Albert) of Corpus Christi, Texas; and Mary Helen Peters (Gary) of Cedar Grove, New Jersey.

Victor’s legacy will live on through his everlasting love and admiration for all his grandchildren: Todd Joseph (TJ) Akers; Aiden, Ashton, and Maris Connor; Victoria and Andrew Lichtenberger; and Gary and Stephanie Peters.

He leaves behind beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was a loving uncle to numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, along with treasured friends.

Victor’s career with Citgo (Champlin) Refinery began in 1974. He was recognized with numerous awards and acknowledgements for his dedication to his work. In 2003 he proudly received a certificate in ministry training from Howard Payne University. On May 1, 2008, Victor retired from Citgo to focus on his prison ministry that he loved dearly. For 14 years Victor touched countless men’s lives through his Bible classes and testimonies. Victor was a dedicated disciple of Christ and loved to share his knowledge of the Bible with everyone, especially those in great need.

In his final year of life, he was cared for and loved dearly by Corina Gonzalez and Anita St. Onge of New Century Hospice. The family would like to thank them both for all the care and support they provided.

To celebrate Victor’s life, a prayer service will be held on Friday, July 10. Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m., followed by a memorial at 5 p.m., at Memory Gardens, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415.
