Eglentina “Tina” Tovar Garcia, 54, of Corpus Christi, TX, passed away on May 18th, 2023, with her husband at her side. Tina was born in Laredo, Texas on November 9th, 1968, to Agustin Rodriguez and Eglentina Aleman Tovar.
Tina worked at Christus Spohn Shoreline as an Executive Administrative Assistant for 18 years where she met many great friends and really enjoyed the work she did. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church where she spent many hours volunteering for the annual Lenten fish fry and other activities around the church. She was a fully trained catechist and spent many years teaching children The Catechesis of The Good Shepherd. Tina enjoyed working for the church her whole life and shared her love of the church with her children. Her Catholic faith was always a large part of her life and something she found important to pass down to her children by helping them learn their prayers and helping them to grow a relationship with Christ.
She received her love of gardening from her late father, and always had beautiful rose bushes growing in her yard. Having a family of her own is something Tina wanted since she was a little girl, so when the Lord blessed her with a loving husband and 2 beautiful children, she spent every minute she could with them. She would take them to the movies, the zoo, and quick weekend trips camping at Lake Corpus Christi and the Frio River. Family barbeques are a staple in the Tovar family, and you could always count on Tina to bring pico de gallo, chips, and her favorite jalapeno popper dip.
She is proceeded in death by her father, Agustin Rodrgiez Tovar; paternal and maternal grandparents; as well as many aunts and uncles.
Left to cherish her loving memory are her husband, Jesse Joe Garcia Jr; son, Jesse Joe Garcia III; daughter, Elizabeth Jessica Garcia; mother, Eglentina Aleman Tovar; sister, Leticia (Carlos Gomez) Martinez; brothers, Jose Agustin (Daphne) Tovar, Juan Antonio (Elizabeth) Tovar, Jorge “JT” Alberto (Krystle) Tovar; and numerous nieces and nephews.
