Silvestre served in the Army during the Korean War and worked as a seaman in the Merchant Marines for 18 years. He then worked in the roofing industry from which he retired in 1989. He had a passion for his family and his “Ranch.”
He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Amada O. Garcia and his son, Silvestre Garcia Jr.
He is survived by his children: Julian Ayala, Belinda G. Arrisola (Louis), Richard Garcia (Ruby), Rosa Linda Hinojosa (David), Abbie Montelongo (Efrain), Elizabeth Perez (Juan), Rodolfo Garcia (Lile), Rojelio Garcia (Lydia), Sylvia Denise Acuña (Edward) and Jeani Benavides (Michael). He will be lovingly missed by his 24 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Amado Garcia.
Visitation will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Friday, November 26, 2021 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM. Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, November 26, 2021 at 6:00 PM. Reflection and Farewell will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at 10:00 AM, with burial to follow.
