Sherry Eileen Gardner entered eternal life with Jesus Christ our Lord on March 23, 2023. She had achieved the age of sixty-seven, having been born on August 24, 1955 in San Antonio, Texas. She preceded her husband, Gerald Gardner in death after 50 years of marriage. Sherry died of ALS Disease after a protracted illness.
Sherry spent her early years in the Rio Grande Valley and in South Texas as her father worked in the oil fields and the family moved frequently. When Sherry was eight years old the family settled in Corpus Christi. She attended Gibson Elementary, Driscoll Junior High and Roy Miller High School. She graduated from Roy Miller High School and Del Mar College, where she achieved an Associate Degree in Nursing and became a Registered Nurse.
Sherry met Gerald at church in 1972 and they were married in 1973. Gerald was licensed and ordained to the gospel ministry in that same Baptist Church. Sherry and Gerald spent the first part of their married lives in the Corpus Christi area until later in life when they moved away to pursue new experiences. To her husband, Sherry was an angel sent to him by God to help guide his path. To most other people she was a sweet, demur, and unassuming person whose priorities were God, husband, family and community, in that order. She was always very open about being an old fashioned girl with old fashioned values and made no apologies for it. Both she and Gerald thought it remarkable how God had blessed their lives and knew instinctively that they were not worthy of such grace, being born into a world of sin and corruption.
Sherry was preceded in death by her father, Melvin and sister, Debbie. She is survived by her mother, Janie Harper; her brother, Travis Harper; husband, Gerald Gardner; her son, Gregory and daughter-in-law, Cara; their children, Grace, Judah and Titus; her daughter, Susan Ketter and son-in-law, Toby Ketter; their children, Taylor, Coleigh and Lincoln.
Sherry leaves a legacy of love, kindness, reverence and good citizenship. She loved word games, puzzles, mysteries and nature. She avoided praise and attention. Her reward is in Heaven.
