At the age of 80, surrounded by his loving family, Shelby Ray Love passed away on February 18, 2012. He was born on December 21, 1931 in Alba, Texas and is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mary Beth; daughter, Paula Love; son, Marcus Love and grandson, Ronald West, Jr. After serving in the Navy he graduated from Texas A & I with a Bachelors and Masters degree. He started his teaching career in 1958 and taught at Ray High School, Miller High School and Del Mar College. Toward the end of his teaching career he was presented with an award as one of the top teachers in Corpus Christi. He loved and cared about his students and his door was always open if they needed help with their studies. He was an associate pastor with the Assemblies of God Church for many years. He loved music and singing, specially at church with his wife, Mary Beth.
Shelby was the only surviving sibling and leaves behind sister-in-laws, one brother-in-law, numerous nieces, and nephews. He is also survived by adopted grandsons, Stephen and Michael Cooper, special family friends, Wilma and Larry Norotsky.
A visitation will be held from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. at Funeraria del Angel-Memorial Holly on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 with a funeral service beginning at 3:00 p.m. Services will conclude after the funeral services. Entombment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
