Sergio A. Gonzales

Sergio was born on April 26, 1965, to Santos and Froina Gonzales. Sergio was raised in Banquete, TX

Following his father’s footsteps, he became a farmer. He worked for John Callaway Farms for many years in Petronila, where he eventually moved.

In 1995, while plowing a field, he was involved in a tractor accident. He laid there in a ditch, pinned under the tractor; and while he thought there was no hope, he never gave up. A helicopter carrying Santa Claus flew over where he laid and then turned around to see if anyone was hurt. He saw Santa Claus had come to save him. Since then, he strongly believed in Santa Claus, for he was his miracle. He was told he would never walk again but he overcome those odds and walked again. He continued farming, and also became a volunteer firefighter for a few years. at E.S.D. #3 in Petronila, as the Assistant Fire Chief.

Sergio retired from farming and fire fighting after being diagnosed with renal failure. Sergio was always full of jokes and laughter. He helped when and where he could. Always making people laugh and smile, even until the very end.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Santos and Froina Gonzales. He is survived by his daughter, Chelsea Aguilera (Julian); brothers, Arturo Gonzales (Alicia), and Rogelio Gonzales (Esther); and two grandchildren. A special thank you to his niece, Veronica Gonzales, who was there for him every time he needed her.

Visitation will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415 on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at 5:00 p.m., with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 9, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Church in Robstown, Texas. Interment will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Robstown Memorial Park, 4607 FM 1889, Robstown, TX 78380.
