Samuel was raised in Bay City, Texas, graduating from high school there, and soon after he enlisted in the U.S. Army for 14 years, and was also in the Army National Guard and held a rank of Staff Sergeant E-6 for 11 years. Samuel married his wife of 35 years on July 26, 1975.
Samuel was employed by Naval Air Station Corpus Christi for 25 years, H.E.B. for 23 years, and had his own lawn service for 25+ years. He was a loving father and a good friend who will always be remembered for his love of the Dallas Cowboys and his love of being a football official for 38 years and baseball umpire for 15 years.
Samuel is preceded in death by his parents Rafael and Geronima Lopez.
He is survived by his sons: Jeremy A. Lopez and Eric A. Lopez; his x-wife Alice P. Lopez; Sister Rosie H. Perez; sister-in-law Mary (Larry) Peterson; grandson Ryan J. Schwarzer; nephews: John Hernandez, Christopher Pena, Mark Razzo, Matt Razzo; niece Stephanie Hernandez.
A continued visitation for Samuel Lopez will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at Funeraria Del Angel Corpus Christi, 549 Cheyenne Street, Corpus Christi, Texas 78405 with a funeral service at
12:00 p.m. followed by interment at 2:00 p.m. at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, 9974 IH 37, Corpus Christi, TX 78409.
