Ruben Hernandez Sr.

Ruben Hernandez Sr., 66, of Corpus Christi, TX, passed away on December 28, 2022 peacefully surrounded by his family. He was born in Abernathy, TX on August 28, 1956 to Domingo and Rebecca Hernandez of Hebbronville, TX. He graduated from Hebbronville High School. He proudly enlisted in the United States Army. He was married to Norma Rosie Hernandez on April 9, 1977.

Ruben was a devoted husband, father, grandfather "Popo", and great-grandfather. He will be remembered for his devotion to SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, his membership as a Gualdalupano, his active role in aiding political campaigns, and his love of Bingo, gambling, and the Dallas Cowboys.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Domingo and Rebcca Hernandez; wife, Norma Hernandez; Brothers, Domingo Hernandez; Pedro Hernandez, Bernadno Hernandez; nieces Brenda Escamilla, Debra Cortez.

He is survived by his son, Ruben Hernandez Jr. (Robyn); daughter, Crystal Levine (Bennie); grandchildren, Gabriella, Jace, Aimie, Alyssa, and Ava; great-grandson, Bryce; brothers, Armando(Mary), Rogelio, and Raul Hernandez; sister, Blanca Gonzales, Juanita (Gregorio) Cortez, Rose (Jorge) Molina, Beatrice (Juan) Escamilla; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A Holy Rosary will be recited at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, February 3, 2023 at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church immediately followed by a Memorial Mass at 12:00 p.m.

Burial for both Ruben and Norma Hernandez will be at 2:00 p.m. at the Corpus Christi Veterans Cemetery.
