May 22, 1938 – November 27, 2022
Rosemary Escamilla Garcia was called to her permanent home on November 27, 2022, surrounded by her family at the age of 84 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Rosemary was born on May 22, 1938, to her parents Concepcion Escamilla and Maria Marquez Escamilla in Robstown, Texas.
Viewing the world in the eyes of love and positivity, Rosemary’s beautiful spirit gleamed upon those around her. The love she blessed upon her family and friends is beyond measure. Strong-willed in her Catholic faith; full of courage, kindness, and strength, her humble heart was always concerned about those she loved. She impacted the lives of many with her caring soul. Our hearts ache as we say farewell to her, but we remind ourselves that her beautiful legacy will live on in each and every one of us.
Rosemary graduated from Sinton High School in 1958. She attended Del Mar College and graduated with a Degree in Nursing. She demonstrated her kindness, working at Riverside Hospital in Calallen, Texas for many years. Then transferred to local hospitals for a short time and retired. She continued sharing her love and passion of nursing throughout her life caring for others.
As a reflection of her favorite saint, Saint Francis of Assisi, Rosemary enjoyed nature and her love of animals knew no bounds. Gardening and working in the yard on a hot sunny day, was a favorite pastime of hers. She was a member of Saint Anthony’s Church in Robstown, Texas and involved herself in De Colores and Altar Society. After moving to Corpus Christi, she found her home parish in Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH). Rosemary devoted herself to Ushering during Mass, Arts and Environmental, Catholic Daughters of America, as well as attending weekly mass and adoration. Sadly, she felt she was unable to continue her devotion due to her diagnosis with dementia but found great comfort in watching ‘Selena The Series’ on Netflix.
Rosemary is proceeded in death by her husband Gilberto M. Garcia Sr., her father Concepcion Escamilla, her mother Maria Marquez Escamilla; siblings: Eva Callejo, Adan Escamilla, Joe Escamilla, Guadalupe Deleon, Juana Ramirez; grandson, Nathan Jon Garcia; great-grand baby Falcon.
She is survived by her children: Gilbert M. Garcia Jr. (Melinda Garcia), Leticia Escamilla Garcia, Sandra Marie Garcia Lopez (Manuel Lopez III), Eliza Garza (+Paul Anthony Garza); brothers: Ricardo Escamilla and Jesse Escamilla; grandchildren: Samantha Garcia, AnaLisa Garcia, Marcus Lopez, Manuel Lopez IV, Nicholas Garcia-Aguirre, Matthew Garcia, Paul Anthony Garza II, and Megan Lopez; great-grandchildren: Aleczander Garcia, Roman Garcia, Rose Garcia, Violet Garcia, Ezra Garcia, Elena Falcon, and Milani Garcia; along with extended members of family and countless friends who she loved including: Stephanie Ortiz, Andrew Falcon, Marivel Quiroz, and Timothy Bain. Through the OLPH family, Rosemary created a motherly bond with Christian & Mellie Villegas and their children.
Rosemary passed away on the first day of Advent, we call upon everyone to dedicate this Advent Season to cherish her memory through acts of caring, love, and laughter. As the holidays approach, remember all the beautiful memories that we have shared with her and call to mind the lessons she has ingrained in each of our lives. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, known to her great-grandchildren as ‘baby grandma,’ sister, aunt, and friend to so many is now at rest.
