Robert Bruce Pontious

Robert Bruce Pontious, 77, of Mathis, Texas, originally from Dayton, Ohio, passed away on December 29, 2015 with his family by his side. He was born December 18, 1938 in Dayton, Ohio to Benjamin and Dora Pontious. He is preceded in death by his lovely wife of 56 years, Karen A. Pontious; brother, Benjamin Pontious; and sister, Patricia Barker. He is survived by his brothers and sisters, Charlotte Brady, David Jake Pontious and Cyrena Henson; his two boys, Michael D. Pontious, Robert A. Pontious and 10 grandchildren as well as 12 great-grandchildren. He retired after 21 years from the United States Navy out of NAS Chasefield Beeville, Texas with many honors. He was an active member of the Church of Christ in Mathis, Texas. Robert Bruce Pontious was an outstanding NCO, an example for all to follow in his footsteps. He was a great father who dearly loved his family and a heartfelt loving husband. Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, January 16, 2015 at Church of Christ, 407 E.
