Rene A. Cantu

Rene Alvarez Cantu, 62 of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 after a brief battle with cancer, surrounded by family, friends and the love of his life, Duvelza until the end.

He was employed as a truck driver at Conway Freight for many years. Rene enjoyed sitting outside passing the day with his dogs, Chocolate Bunny and Miss Kitty. He had a passion for fishing, going to casinos and loved dancing. Rene was also the Proclaimed Neighborhood Watchman for his street.

Rene is preceded in death by his parents, Victoriano and Natalia Cantu.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Duvelza Cantu; his children, Jenny Davila (Daniel), Rene Cantu, Jr. and Analicia Cantu. Also surviving is one grandchild, Abrianna Mauricio; surviving siblings include Victoriano Cantu, Jr. (Ana), Terry Ruiz (Zac), Rudy Cantu (Connie), Diana Hernandez (Zeke), Elvia Wagner (Keith) and Sonia Seibert (Bob) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Public visitation will be at Funeraria Del Angel-Memorial Holly on Friday, September, 20, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and continue on Saturday, September 21, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. A chapel service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 22, 2013 at Funeraria Del Angel Memorial Holly. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
