Ray Nowotny

He was born February 2, 1926 in Gouldbusk, Texas to the late Edwin Otto and Vallie Nowotny.

Ray was a U. S. Navy and Coast Guard Veteran, who served in the Shangri La Rescue Mission during WWII. He retired from the civil service and as a master electrician.

Ray was a Mason and member of the Harlandale Lodge # 1213, AF & AM, Alzafar Shrine Temple in San Antonio, Texas. On June 28, 2007 he received a certificate of appreciation for his more than 50 years of service.

He is preceded in death by his brothers, Bill, Pete, Ralph (twin brother), Bobby, and Sonny Nowotny; sister, Mildred Mackle and grandson, Stephen Ryan Nowotny.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Nowotny; son, Dr. Steven (Laura) Nowotny; step-children, Sam (Leah) Gayler, Gayla (Mike) Kelly, Ginger (Rick) Marcantonio and Debra (Steve) Pakebusch; sisters-in-law, Naomi Nowotny and Monica Nowotny; along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other loving family members.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Dreier, Jeff Tondre, Kyle Muegge, Wayne Nowotny, Mike Smith and Sterling Kelly.

The family will be receiving friends Tuesday, February 19, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel. Interment with military honors will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
