Raul Richard Cantu, 51, was called home by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, May 21, 2017; he was at home surrounded by his loving family. Richard was born on December 18, 1965 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Richard died as a result of pancreatic cancer; in the words of Stuart Scott "When you die, it does not mean that you lose to cancer. You beat cancer by how you live, why you live, and in the manner in which you live.” and Richard indeed lived. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 6:7 He is preceded in death by his father, Saul Martin Cantu Sr., his maternal grandparents, Raul and Asenet Sandoval and his paternal grandparents, Martin and Margarita Cantu. Richard is survived by his loving wife, Becky Cantu, mother Carmen Cantu, brother Saul Martin Cantu Jr. (Cara), one daughter Cassandra Cantu (J.C.), one son R. J. Cantu and two grandsons, Jake and Jaythan. He is also survived by 3 stepchildren, Jonathan, Elisandra, and Lorrisa Valdez, and two step grandchildren, Jordan and Jesus. He is survived by one niece, Caitlyn Cantu, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of family members and friends. All whom loved him and will miss him. Richard was an ordained deacon of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and a long life member of El Divino Salvador Presbyterian Church, where he sang in the choir. He was employed at Corpus Christi Army Depot before retiring due to his illness. The family extends a very Special Thanks to Serenity and Grace Hospice. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
