Raquel R. Villarreal , age 75, passed away Friday, September 22, 2023 with her family by her side. She was born May 14, 1948 to Mr. Esteban and Maria Rodriguez Sr. She was a graduate from West Oso High School then attending Del Mar College, receiving her certification in Accounting. Raquel retired from 7-Eleven (originally known as Maverick Market) after 22 years of dedicated employment.
She loved spending time with her children and siblings, having BBQ cookouts and tailgating for football games. She enjoyed going on vacations to Las Vegas and to Kansas. Raquel also liked to make weekend trips to go visit her sisters in San Antonio. As a Catholic of great faith Raquel believed in prayer and will always be remembered for her strength through all circumstances.
She was a funny, brilliant and strong willed woman but most of all she was loving, honest, kind and caring. Raquel was a loving daughter, sister, mother, niece, cousin, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Raquel is preceded in death by her Maternal Grandparents, Antonio & Francisca Ramirez and Paternal Grandparents, Alvino & Apolonia Rodriguez; Parents, Esteban & Maria Rodriguez Sr. and Children, Esteban Guillen, Johnny R. Villarreal, Jr. and Maria Elizabeth Guillen and brother-in-law, Joe Ramirez.
Raquel is survived by her children, Arnold (Liza) Guillen, Juan (Laura) Guillen, Anna (Joel) Zepeda, Raul (Gloria) Guillen, Ernestina (Martin) Villegas, Rachael (Luis) Vega and Reubena (Veronica) Martinez; siblings, Rose Ramirez, Reubena Flores, Esteban (Frances) Rodriguez Jr., Arturo (Nora) Rodriguez, Mary Rodriguez, Elena (Richard) Hernandez.
Also surviving are her Grandchildren, Leslie (Anthony) Garza, Kevin Guillen, Michael (Delma) Guillen, Arnold (Selena) Guillen III, Hailey Guillen, Natalie Perez, CJ Perez, Madeline Guillen, Joel Aaron Zepeda, Molly Zepeda, Gabrielle (Anthony) Benavidez, Charles (Chucky) Miles Jr., Clarissa Miles (Active member of the Armed Forces), Isabella Miles, Isaac Miles, Christina (Gilbert) Gonzalez, Annika Vega, Trinity Vega, Marisol (Moses) Miranda, Juan Martinez, Jr. Johnnessa (Sabrina) Martinez, Justine Martinez, Joe Flores, McKynzie Yanez, Makira Yanez, Juliet Gonzales Martinez and Johnny Gonzales Martinez; 30 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.
Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers are Kevin Guillen, Michael Guillen, Richie Hernandez, Charles (Chucky) Miles Jr., Juan Martinez Jr., Joel Aaron Zepeda, Isaac A. Miles.
Honorary pallbearers are Johnnessa V. Martinez and Esteban Rodriguez III.
Special thanks to our Aunt Frances Rodriguez for her guidance when making medical decisions for our mother and the remaining family members that took the time to assist in caring for our mom. Also, special thanks to the Lopez family for their love and support. We extend our gratitude to Harbor Hospice C.E.C Michelle De La Rosa, L.M.S.W Angel Trevino, Rosario Garcia FNP, D.O.N. Veronica Kugi, Britney Vega R.N., Rodriza Diongco R.N., Michael Galgo R.N., Odilia Galvan CNA, Chaplain Michael aka Shane Kinnison and the rest of the Harbor Hospice staff for their special care and amazing job.
Visitation will be on Thursday October 5, 2023 at Funeraria Del Angel-Memorial Holly, 3442 Holly Rd., from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm that same evening.
Funeral Mass will be on Friday, October 6, 2023 at Our Lady of Pilar Catholic Church, 1101 Bloomington St., at 10:00 am with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
