Raquel graduated from Roy Miller High School in 1962 and obtained her Bachelor’s degree in 1992 from CC State University. She retired from the Nueces County Courthouse after 18 years of service. She enjoyed working part time at Dillards and several SCI funeral homes in Corpus Christi. Raquel was a very elegant woman who always put her family first. Her family considered her the “go to” for advice and answers. Raquel will be affectionately remembered for her character and “meaning what she said and saying what she meant.” She had given her life to serving Jehovah, and enjoyed going door to door spreading the word. She was happiest spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Left behind to cherish her memories are her children, Ray Madrigal, Judge Melissa Madrigal, Marisa Gallegos and Perla (Brian) Pierce; grandchildren, Valerie (Chico) De Leon, John (Jessica) Gallegos, Thomas Gallegos, Mia Gallegos, Samantha K. Pierce, and Lily Grace Pierce; great-grandchildren, Gabby De Leon, Nicholas De Leon, Jacob De Leon, Ava De Leon and Jacqueline Rae Gallegos; brother, Roland Gonzalez; aunt, Evangelina Vergara and numerous cousins and of course, Jaime Salazar.
The family would like to express a special thanks to the brothers and sisters from Kingdom Hall for their prayers and visits, especially Frances Garcia with whom she did her Jehovah Witness studies with.
Visitation will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Sunday, October 30, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Talk at 7:00 pm that same evening. Services will conclude after.
“I am not afraid, for I have put my life in the hands of Jehovah.”-Raquel
