Ramona T. Garcia, 78, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023, surrounded by her family. Ramona was born on March 18, 1945, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Jose Maria and Leonor Garcia Tanguma.
Ramona worked at the Early Childhood Development Center daycare as a cook for over 20 years. Ramona went on to meet the love of her life, Marcelo Garcia, and they were happily married for 57 years. After her eventual retirement, Ramona helped care for her many grandchildren and loved to travel with her husband. She loved playing loteria with her family and doing crossword puzzles. She looked forward to watching Judge Judy, the local news, and Wheel of Fortune. Ramona was her happiest when spending time with her family at barbeque cookouts, holidays, and birthday celebrations at home.
Ramona is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marcelo Garcia; her parents, Jose Maria and Leonor Garcia Tanguma; her brother, Juan Tanguma; her sister, Mary Hernandez; and her brother, Amando Tanguma. She is survived by her daughters, Janie (Joe) Rodriguez and Estella Garcia of Corpus Christi; her sons, Marcelo Garcia of Odem, Armando (Cindy) Garcia, and Joey (Cindy) Garcia of Corpus Christi; her brother, Jose Maria (Evelyn) Tanguma of San Fernando, California; her sisters, Nora Perez and Lucia Tanguma of Corpus Christi; 12 grandchildren, Michael Rodriguez, Brittany Rodriguez, Melissa Washington, Natalie Cruz, Rodney Hager, Mary Garcia, Cody Garcia, Mariah Garcia, Mandito Garcia, Matthew Garcia, Jared Garcia, and Johnathan Garza; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Our mother and grandmother will be greatly missed, but now she is reunited with the love of her life, our dad, Marcelo Garcia.
Family will be receiving friends from 5 PM – 9 PM on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at Funeraria del Angel – Memorial Holly with a Holy Rosary to be recited that same night at 7 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Friday, June 23, 2023, at Our Lady of Pilar Catholic Church. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at San Pedro Cemetery – 1928 US 77, Odem, TX 78370.
