Ralph enlisted in the Navy after Pearl Harbor where he honorably served the Navy for 27 years. He loved the outdoors and was a country boy at heart who respected wildlife. . He loved animals and enjoyed rescuing wild birds and would raise those he rescued. Jack LaLanne was his inspiration to live a long and healthy life. He will be dearly missed by his family.
He is preceded in death by his father, Steve E. Simmons and mother, Jessie Lee Scott; brothers, Hobert, Jack, Charles, Mitchell, John, Steve Jr., Royston Gober and Billy Edwards.
Ralph leaves behind his beloved wife Maria Amparo Simmons; son, Stephen Simmons, daughter, Sylvia Frizzell (Eugene), daughter, Elizabeth Brooner (Pete); grandchildren, Brian, Amanda, Meghan, Erin, Sean, Jamie and Matthew. He is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 30, 2012 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
