It is with profound sadness we say goodbye to a great man, husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend and often surrogate grandfather to many. Who left this living world to meet the Lord on May 20, 2024 at 6:59pm.
Pablo Martinez Perez “El Ruco” was an accomplished and talented accordion player who not only played the accordion he mastered a lot of other instruments like the bajo sexto, bass guitar, and congas. Also, the most beautiful voice that to the end he continued singing and moving his fingers to the end. He often had to play and sing all instruments to produce and record his music and CDs. Pablo was most proud of his uncle Narcisco Martinez and Raul “El Ruco” who were a great influence to him. Pablo was also inducted to Conjunto Hall of Fame in Alice, Texas. It was an honor which he was most proud of.
Pablo was a graduate of Del Mar College with a degree in commercial air condition and commercial appliance repair.
Pablo had a beautiful, loving heart who attracted strangers who became his friends and biggest fans. He had wisdom, knowledge, and common sense.
Pablo treated everyone with respect and in return he was respected. He started his music career at a young age of about 11 years old and played with local groups until it was his turn to play drums with his older brothers group. His brother, Pete Perez, was also a talented well known accordion player in Los Pavos De Pete Perez.
Later when Pete left for Vietnam, Pablo started playing the accordion. By this time all of the brothers were in the group. Los Hermanos Martinez Perez who played at many many quinceaneras, weddings, and parties. His father Leandro Perez was a composer of their music. His beloved mother, Epifania Martinez Perez, was their manager. They made many hit recordings that at the time made a number one hit, like Mi Corpus Christi, Reyna de Nuestro Hoopa, and Flor Marchita. He later started his own group, Los Rucos where he recorded several CD’s and are played on the radio to this day.
Pablo is preceded in death by his parents, Leandro and Epifania Perez; brothers, Pedro “Pete” Perez, Narcisco “Chicho” Perez; sister, Fanni and Maria DeLaLuz Perez. His in-laws, Cipriano and Eva Martinez; nephews, Richard Martinez and Bobby Guzman.
Pablo is survived by his wife of 55 years Mary Ann Martinez Perez; son, Pablo Perez Jr. (Rachel Reyes); daughters, Yvonne Dolores Perez (Manuel Raul Gonzalez II), Attorney Diana Denise Perez as he was proud to say. Also left behind to carry on his legacy are his brothers and sisters, Dolores Perez Barrientes, her husband Isreal Barrientes, Joe and Rosalinda Perez, Jesse and Colleen Mentch Perez, Janie Perez and Raymond and Yolanda Perez. Pablo also left behind his brother in-law, Margarito and Beatrice Martinez; sister and brother in law, Robert and Josie Guzman.
He also leaves behind his most proudest legacy his grandchildren, great grandchildren and one on the way. Mylenna Epifania Perez Seniceros, Naudia Celeste Perez Gonzalez, Annaliz Alexus Perez Gonzalez, Manuel Raul Perez Gonzalez IV (Evelyn Munoz), Jillian Eliana Perez Gonzalez (Elida Lopez), Travis Rey Perez (Asha Shell), Thadius Paul Perez, Allison Perez, Madison Alexandra Perez (Jaydion L. Cuellar), Aaliah Espinosa, and Royce Espinosa. His great grandchildren; Janessa Ramirez, Jeziah Ramirez, Eli Hanks, Alayah Hanks, and Giovanni Bureiaga.
Pablo loved all his neieces and nephews who all had a special place in his heart that he truly loved unconditionally who each one in their own way had a special hand with him. There are too many to mention but know he loved them all.
Holy Rosary for Pablo will be held Friday, May 24, 2024 at 1:00 PM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 710 S 19th St, Corpus Christi, TX 78405 with a Funeral Mass at 1:30 p.m. followed by a Visitation from 2:30 p.m. to 3:00 AM at Funeraria del Angel Corpus Christi, 549 Cheyenne St, Corpus Christi, Texas 78405.
