Olivia Nieto Calderon, 96, passed away on June 21, 2021. She was born in Chapman Ranch on March 8, 1925 to Fermin and Micaela Nieto, the eldest of four children. Olivia attended Sacred Heart Elementary until the 6th grade and then entered the workforce, picking cotton alongside her father who was not only a farmer but also an agriculturist, to raise his family. She had a passion for sewing, a gift and talent passed on by her mother. She began working from home as a professional seamstress, sewing for many local nurses, teachers, quinces, friends and family. She attended Our Lady of Pilar Catholic Church for several years, a true servant of God. She had many other passions including cooking delicious food for the entire family, which was pleasing to her sweet and humble soul.
Olivia married Guadalupe Trevino Calderon on February 8, 1947, sharing 74 years together.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Fermin O. Nieto, and Micaela Salinas Nieto; her brother, Manuel Nieto; her sisters, Evangelina Dalton, Dolores Vargas; son, Fermin N. Calderon; daughter, Irma C. Cuellar.
Oliva is survived by her children, Eristeo Calderon (Alicia), Virginia Hand (William), Fernando Calderon (Sharon), Amelia Dunn (James), Matilda Castillo (Felipe), Guadalupe Calderon Jr., Eulogio Calderon, Rosa Lara (Pablo), Altagracia Garces (Noel); many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
She will be dearly missed by all her family.

Visitation will begin on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at Funeraria del Angel, 549 Cheyenne Street, Corpus Christi, Texas 78405, at 5:00p.m. A Holy Rosary will begin at 7:00p.m. at Funeraria del Angel. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 1st at 10:00am, at Our Lady of Pilar, 1101 Bloomington St., Corpus Christi, TX. Interment to follow at Memory Gardens Funeral Home & Cemetery, 8200 Old Brownsville Rd., Corpus Christi, TX.
