Our beloved mother and grandmother Odilia A. Hinojosa, age 91 of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2023. She was born in Matamoros, Tamaulipas Mexico to Ana Maria and Jose Angel Atkinson. She was the last surviving member of her family. She is preceded in death by her parent’s, her brothers and sisters and husband Francisco C. Hinojosa.
Her sons, Victor Hinojosa (Herlinda), Francisco Hinojosa (Mary Ann), Mario Hinojosa, Gilbert Hinojosa (Tracey), Joe Hinojosa and Danny Hinojosa (Rudy Carranza); daughters Maria H. Vela, Diana Perez (Richard), Alicia Rodriguez (Felipe), Ana Delia Martinez (Abraham) and Angelita Linan (+Oscar); her grandchildren Ann M. Vela, Adelene N. Tellez, Michael A. Vela, Pamela Schultz, Frank Hinojosa, Xavier Hinojosa, Matthew Hinojosa, Priscilla Hinojosa, Christopher Herrera, Tiffany Hinojosa, Lily Hinojosa, Justin Hinojosa, Diana M. Hinojosa, Jessica Hinojosa, Eleanore H. Guzman. Joshua Martinez, Anastacia Martinez, Oscar Linan, Joseph Linan, April Linan, Jonathan Garcia, Jay Garcia, Elizabeth Rodriguez and Emilee Rodriguez; 20 great grandchildren survive her.
Our mother enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas, Nevada, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Phoenix, Arizona, and the Grand Canyon; she enjoyed getting on the Tramway to reach to the top of Sandia Peak Mountain. She loved seeing the white snow. She traveled to the beautiful sights found in Cheyenne, Wyoming in order to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also went to Gulf Port, Mississippi and enjoyed spending her time with her daughter Ana. She enjoyed many birthday celebrations and other family gatherings. She enjoyed singing all the Spanish songs daily with her beautiful voice. She had the pleasure of traveling on the Caribbean cruise line with her son Frank and daughter in-law Mary Ann. She said that it was the most beautiful time that she had experienced on that cruise. She always remembered the ranch “La Burrita” where she was born and raised. She loved all her nieces and nephews. She saw the good in people and loved meeting people.
Visitation on Sunday, April 30, 2023 from 5:00pm-9pm at Funeraria Del Angel, 549 Cheyenne St, Corpus Christi, Texas 78405, followed by a Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM. A mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, May 1, 2023 at 10:00AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2509 Nogales, Corpus Christi, Texas. Interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8200 Old Brownsville Rd., Corpus Christi, Texas.
