

Moises served in the Army and Air Force during World War II as well as in the CC Camp in the Seattle, Washington area fighting fires in the early forties. He worked for the City of Corpus Christi for 35 years as the printer and was a volunteer for Doctor's Regional Hospital after his retirement. He was a faithful member of Kelsey Memorial United Methodist Church in Corpus Christi for over fifty years. He did a number of various services for the church, including printing bulletins for every Sunday Service and ushering. He would visit and stay with the sick and run errands for them when needed. He later transferred to El Divino Salvador United Methodist Church in San Antonio, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Sylvia Covarrubias and his son Daniel Covarrubias.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years Maria Oralia Covarrubias; daughters Esther C. Barrera of San Antonio, Texas, Dollie (Oran) Hill of Allen, Texas; son, Moses (Tish) Covarrubias of San Antonio, Texas; daughter-in-law Cindy Covarrubias of McKinney, Texas; seven grandchildren Rick O. Barrera, Jacob Covarrubias, Roland O. Barrera, Audrey Brewer, Theresa Taylor, Travis Trayler, and Monica Cole; 10 great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Cage-Mills Funeral Directors located on 4901 Everhart Road, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Kelsey Memorial United Methodist Church located on 1610 Comanche Street. Entombment will follow at Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
