Mary Ellen Johnson Simmons, age 79, departed this life on November 30, 2023. She was born January 5, 1944 in Port Lavaca Texas.

Mary received her formal education as a nurse from Del Mar College. She would go on to work over 40 years in both the hospital and in home health eventually retiring. Mary was a passionate nurse who loved her family and enjoyed gardening.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Roger Simmons Sr, father Levell Johnson, mother Deralee Mason and brothers Grant Johnson, James Johnson and Elijah Mason.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Gretchen Johnson, Michael Simmons (Diane), Tanya Palmer (James), Roger Simmons Jr, and Shawn Simmons (Najat) and a host of grandchildren who affectionately know her as Maumau.

She also leaves behind her siblings: Terry, Michael, Steve, Deralee, Eleanor, Gloria and Gwendolyn.

A memorial service will be held for Mary on January 6, 2024 from 11am-2pm at Funeraria Del Angel located on 4901 Everhart Rd., Corpus Christi, Texas.
