Maria Angela Solis

Maria Angela Dominguez-Solis, age 85, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2022, she was born May 31, 1937 in Falfurrias, Texas to Abel Patrick Chavana and Elvia Nieto-Chavana, she was raised in Floresville, San Antonio and Corpus Christi, Texas.

Maria graduated from Roy Miller High School with honors, graduated from Del Mar College where she obtained a degree in nursing and worked for Spohn Hospital and retiring after 37 and a half years and went to work an additional 10 years with various nursing homes providing hospice care.

Prior to earning her degree in nursing she was a teacher and midwife where she delivered several of her nieces and nephews, she also delivered all of her grandchildren while working at Spohn Shoreline Hospital in the Nursery, labor and delivery and the Emergency Room too.

She married her high school sweetheart, Sabino Pedro Dominguez in May of 1959, while he served with the US Marines as a Drill Instructor and later as a police officer for CCPD. They were married 37 and a half years, they enjoyed dancing and singing and teaching her grandchildren how to dance, she was their "Dancing Queen".

She was a loving mother, sister, cousin and aunt, she enjoyed gardening, exchanging recipes with her best friend, baking, cooking, dancing, singing, Praying her Rosary, being active in her Church and teaching her grandchildren all the different Prayers and keeping their faith strong.

She was PTA President for her children's elementary school and treasurer for her sons baseball team, she enjoyed taking her daughters to all their singing and dancing activities.

Both Maria and her husband adopted two children; Tom and Martha but later lost their adopted son Tom to a drunk driver and biological son Roland to stage 4 leukemia.

She was very devoted to her family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren meant the world to her, she had 22 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

Maria taught her daughters to love all children and to always give them a home, to nourish them for they are God's Little Angels. To always help people in need for you never knew when it could be Jesus or one of his Angels that you might be caring for.

Maria is preceded in death by her parents Abel and Elvira Chavana, husband; Sabino Pedro Dominguez and her two sons; Tom and Roland.

She is survived by her daughters; Jo Ann Dominguez-De Leon (Rene), Martha Martinez (Late Juan Samuel Martinez), Bernice Nesmith (Late Joe Edward Nesmith)

Honored to serve as Pallbearers will be her grandsons, grand daughter and close family friend, Armando Clark Jr, Brett Bussell, Maria Martinez-Reyes, Eric Nesmith, Samuel Martinez, Ricardo Contreras and Alberto Zertuche.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 12, 2022 from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel-Everhart, 4901 Everhart Road, Corpus Christi, TX 78411, with a Holy Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass is scheduled on Monday, June 13, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 5830 Williams Drive, Corpus Christi, TX 78412 with her interment scheduled to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery, 2731 Comanche, Corpus Christi, TX 78408.
