Ecclesiastes 12:7 - And the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.
Maria Alicia Saenz was granted her angel wings on June 11th 2021 at the age of 72 with her brother Alfredo at her side. Maria Alicia touched many lives in small and big ways. She cared deeply for her parents, siblings, extended family, and friends. Maria Alicia’s fortitude carried her far and endeared her to many. As an educator, she encouraged her students and fellow educators to make her and themselves proud. Maria Alicia was a gifted crafter and jewelry maker in her spare time. Unfortunately, she was struck with aggressive dementia that dashed all her dreams of a different life.
Her loving father, Alfredo P. Saenz, preceded her in death. She is survived by her mother, Idolina Villarreal Saenz, siblings, Alfredo Saenz, Jr. (Irma Moya), Jose Armando Saenz, and Alda Emma Saenz (Tomas Mata), nieces Maria Bedelia Munoz (Dan), Dyana Theresa Saenz, and Marisa Belen Knoff (Dan), nephews David Noe Saenz, Ricky Joe Saenz (Melissa Scott), Raymond Joely Saenz, and numerous aunts, cousins, great nieces, and great nephews.
Osvelia Villarreal Leal (Carlos), her closest beloved first cousin and best friend, is greatly appreciated for her unwavering contact with Maria Alicia, support, and prayers. Osvie brought Maria Alicia peace with her last phone call after which Maria Alicia passed quietly.
Her care was entrusted to Brookdale’s Clare Bridge unit where she received love and respect in a homey atmosphere. Her hospice providers from Kindred were also very loving and kept the family informed during COVID 19. Greatly appreciated were the chaplain visits by Abel Hernandez and Dennis Cotton. The family is grateful to Our Lady of Perpetual Help for her anointment.
