Maria Guadalupe Marroquin, 94, of Corpus Christi, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2013 at home surrounded by her family. She was born July 14, 1918 in San Diego, Texas, to Guadalupe and Ruperta Torres. She married Guadalupe Benavides Marroquin on August 7, 1936.
She is survived by her 6 sons and a daughter: Hector (Trinidad) Marroquin, Christina (Porfirio) Zamora, Ruben (Irma) Marroquin Sr, Jose Angel (Sylvia) Marroquin, Guadalupe (Jenna) Marroquin, Jr, Richard (Maria) Marroquin, Ruben T. Marroquin, Jr, 25 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, 22 great-great-grandchildren, one brother Servando Torres, numerous nieces and nephews, devoted ex-daughter-in-law Elva Cuestas that never left her side, special care giver Norma Nieto, Pastors Samuel and Linda Frias, and special pet Pepe . The family would like to express appreciation to Dr. Islam, his staff for the excellent care given, Divita Dialysis Center, Padre Home Health, and Illumina Hospice.
She is preceded in death by her husband Guadalupe B. Marroquin, son Daniel Marroquin, 4 sisters, 2 brothers, granddaughter Naomi Brisenio, great-great- grandsons; Jacob Gabriel Flores and Andrew Ruben Torres.
She was a Licensed Vocational Nurse trained by the Nuns of Spohn and worked in the field since 1952, loved to travel, dedicated to her family, loved music, loved telling stories of her life and her ancestors, and a devouted Christian.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 21, 2013 from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Memorial Holly Chapel with a Prayer Service to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Memorial Holly Chapel with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
