Maria Christina Hernandez

She was born on December 18th,1957 and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas to Maria Flores and raised by Tiodosa G. Medina, and Manuel Medina Sr. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Maria is preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin P. Hernandez; oldest child, Benjamin Hernandez Jr. and siblings, Gloria Medina, Manuel Medina Sr., Alfredo Medina and Elma M. Ramones. She is survived by her children, Julio O. Hernandez and his wife, Jessica (4+4), Naomi Hernandez (7, A.K.A. Krazy Krew), Veronica A. Hernandez (6) and Ben (Champ) Hernandez (1) and siblings, Janie, Sandy, Gabriel, Victor, and Paul.

Maria worked at Oak Park Elementary, and La Bahia restaurant for numerous years. She was a strong woman, fighting cancer for years. In this last year alone she went through countless radiation and chemotherapy sessions. She was helped and supported by so many people including her granddaughter, Alyssa R. Morales, who provided for her throughout the year. Maria was a fighter up until her first and last breath. She would light up any room she walked into, if you stepped foot in her home you would be welcomed with a loving heart and home cooked meals. Maria will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Cheyenne, 549 Cheyenne St.on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm that same evening.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Pilar Catholic Church, 1101 Bloomington St. on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at 10:00 am with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
