Maria Consuelo Gamez

María Consuelo Gamez, age 73, went to be with the Lord and the Blessed Mother on August 23, 2022. She was a humble, soft-spoken, and kind-hearted person, a loving mother, and a heavenly grandmother. María, also known as Mary, Momo, and Connie, was born December 7, 1948 in Laredo, Texas. Her early childhood was spent in Odem, Texas where she joined a loving and extended family. In her adulthood, she had two loving sons and inherited many children, as she always opened her heart and her home to everyone she came across. She often wore her favorite color purple and collected dolls. Mary’s devotion to the Catholic faith and the Virgin Mary will be remembered as she always wore her medallion of the Blessed Mother faithfully.

María Consuelo Gamez is preceded in death by grandmother María Flores Torres “Meré;” parents Gertudez and Salvador Carrion; sisters María Trinidad "Trini" Chavez, and Celia Naranjo Gonzales; and daughter-in-law, Melynda Gamez.

She is survived by her mother Candelaria Torres; husband Pedro Gamez, Sr.; children Pedro Gamez Jr., Michael Gamez, Joe Gonzales, Virginia Kroontje, Rebecca Gonzales Boysen, Wendy Nerio; beloved granddaughters Alyssa Marie Gamez, Mariah Ortiz; grandsons Brandon Alcocer, Noah Alcocer; sisters Margarita Piñeda, Nora Santos; and many more extended grandchildren, nephews, and nieces.

A public memorial service will be hosted by the family on a later date.
