She was preceded in death by her mother Refugia, her aunt Adelina Perez who raised her, sister and brother-in-law Elva and Julio Bazan, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Gonzalo and Emma De Leon, brother-in-law, Jesus “Chuy” De Leon and cousins, Frank and Lupita Guerrero, and many others.
Nelda is survived by her husband , Guadalupe of 61 years, her four children, Virginia (Barbara), Joel (Roycelin), Xavier (San Juanita), and Christina. She is also survived by her eight grandsons Blake (Marissa), Christopher(Beth), Ryan, Royce (Krisri), Joel "Chez", Savion, , Estevan, and Dante, her six great-grandchildren, Savana, Audrey, Taylor, Royce Jr., and Orson, as well as many others who called her grandma.
Nelda was a parishioner of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church for 45 years. She was active in the church community as a lector, Eucharistic Minister, and a religious education teacher until dementia set in. Nelda worked for the Flour Bluff ISD for 22 years as a paraprofessional. She loved working with the children she served. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

A Visitation will be held for Nelda on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 5:00p.m.-9:00p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7:00p.m.at Funeraria Del Angel Everhart located at 4901 Everhart Rd., Corpus Christi, Texas 78415. The Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at 11:00a.m. at Saint Paul Catholic Church, 2233 Waldron Rd, Corpus Christi, TX 78418. Interment to follow at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, 9974 I-37, Corpus Christi, TX 78410.
