Dr. Wadas-Enright is survived by her husband, Thomas and her daughter Caitlin of Corpus Christi, TX. She also left two sisters, Theresa Majors and her husband, Bob Majors of
Birmingham, Alabama and Judy Stegman and her husband, Terry Stegman of Montgomery, Alabama. Last but not least, her friend and brother, Joseph Wadas and his wife, Michelle Wadas of Savannah, Georgia.
Also special thanks to her two nieces who visited and helped care for her in her last days, Amy Wright and Mary Positano of Connecticut. She also leaves her special friend, Ellie Mae, her devoted King Charles spaniel.
Before her death Dr Wadas-Enright was a caregiver for both her parents Monica and Eugene Wadas of Montgomery, Alabama. She was devoted to them and cared for them in their final days. She was always devoted to her parents, speaking to them daily regardless of where she lived.
Margaret served in the United States Air Force as a medic, which began her career in healthcare. She left the military to complete her Bachelors of Science in Nursing at the
University of Alabama at Birmingham. After practicing as a registered nurse for two years she completed her Masters of Science in Nursing also from the University of Alabama at
Birmingham. After completing her national certification as a Nurse Practitioner, she started several rural clinics in underserved areas in Alabama. She then received her Doctorates in Nursing Practice from the University of South Alabama.
During her career she focused on the
underserved populations. Margaret would frequently say working with the underserved was her ministry. Her love and respect for her patients was appreciated by them and she appreciated the outpouring of love, especially in her final days.
Dr. Wadas-Enright continued to see her patients until December of 2022. She stopped seeing patients as the ALS made it impossible to continue. She missed her patients, and they missed her, as we saw with all the calls and notes. She was deeply touched by the outpouring of sympathy and gratitude from her patients and colleagues.
The family would like to thank Harbor Hospice for their assistance and support during this difficult time. We want to also thank the Coastal Bend Veterans Administration Clinics for their care, especially the Home Based Primary Care team and the Houston VA ALS Clinic. Last but certainly not least, the Paralyzed Veterans Association for all their support and help navigating the various Veterans Administration processes, we could not have done it without their support.
A Memorial Mass is planned for Dr Wadas-Enright on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Most Precious Blood in Corpus Christi. After the Mass there will be military honors for her service.
Margaret will be interred at the Monastery of the Holy Spirit in Conyers, GA shortly after.
