Marcos P. Perez

Marcus Pena Perez passed away peacefully on Monday, August 15, 2011 in Donna, Texas at 88 years old and took with him a piece of our hearts. Marcos was born to Felipe and Severa Perez on May 11, 1923 in Kingsville, Texas.

Marcus is preceded in death by his wife, Consuelo Tijerina Perez, his son, Marcos Rene Perez, Sr., and a brother, Ignacio Pena Perez. Marcus and 'Chelo' were married 52 years and had five children.

Marcus is survived by his two daughters, Melinda (Gary) Boldt of Donna, Texas and Melissa (Louis) Cuellar; two sons, Mark Anthony Perez and Manuel David (Sandra) Perez; daughter-in-law, Minerva (Rene) Perez; a sister, Maria Angelica Myers, and sister-in-law, Lillie Lydia Perez, all from Corpus Christi, Texas.

Marcus had seven grandchildren: Jordan (Celeste) Abu-Ain, Cindy (Brian) Fernandez, Jessica Michelle (Michael) Gray, Louis (Shandi) Cuellar, Marcos Rene (Jennifer) Perez Jr., Minerva Jessica (Eric) Mings and 11 great-grandchildren -- the youngest grandchild was born 41 minutes shortly after Marcus' passing. Marcus is also survived by his cousin, Robert Perez and many other nephews and nieces.

Marcus served in the U.S. Army, World War II in the Philippines. He worked as a civil service employee at NAS Kingsville as a plumber until he retired. After retirement, Marcus started his own plumbing business, 'Perez & Sons', for years, until he got ill. Marcus will be dearly missed by his many friends and family.

The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at Funeraria Del Angel, 549 Cheyenne, from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:30 pm that same evening.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 19, 2011 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Good Council, 1102 E Kleberg Ave, Kingsville, Texas with interment to follow at Santa Gertrudis Cemetery in Kingsville, Texas.
