Manuel Avalos

Manuel Avalos was called to heaven on Sunday, July 22, 2012 at the age of 87. He was born on September 16, 1924 in Seguin, Texas to Pablo and Juana Avalos. Manuel served his country in the US Army in WWII and Korea. He was a longtime foster grandparent with Los Pequenos Daycare. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Manuel will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pablo and Juana Avalos; infant son, Manuel Avalos, Jr. and brother, Andres Avalos.

Manuel is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Eugenia Avalos; children, Mary Lou Aguirre (Pablo), Manuel Avalos, Roberto Avalos, Janie Flores (Richard) and Pat Avalos. Also surviving him are 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

The family would like to give special thanks to the Odyssey Hospice Staff, Yani, Paulette, Isabel, Anita and also Josie and R. C. for the wonderful care provided to our father.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Funeraria del Angel-Memorial Holly at 3442 Holly Rd. with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian burial will be officiated at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery at 9974 IH 37 Access Rd.
