Lidia Rangel Lopez, 71, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away peacefully in her cherished hometown. Born on October 21, 1953, to David Rangel Sr. and Elena Esparza Rangel, Lidia was a woman of deep love, enduring strength, and boundless generosity.
On September 7, 1969, Lidia married her soulmate, Juan Hernandez Lopez Sr., embarking on a beautiful journey of 55 years together. Their love story was one of unwavering devotion, marked by shared laughter, quiet companionship, and a life deeply intertwined.
Lidia dedicated herself to a successful career as a property manager, but her greatest passion was her family. She found immense joy in being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, where she lovingly prepared her family’s favorite meals, filling every gathering with warmth and togetherness. Whether enjoying a backyard barbecue, a fishing trip, or an impromptu family celebration, Lidia’s happiness lay in the simple moments that brought her loved ones closer.
Throughout her life, Lidia was her family’s steadfast anchor and guiding light. She was ever-present at school functions, football games, and folklórico dances, cheering on her grandchildren with pride. Her daily phone calls with her beloved son Joe and heartfelt visits with her eldest son, Juan Jr. and her daughter-in-law Barbara, were cherished rituals, filled with humor, wisdom, and unconditional love.
Lidia’s kindness and hospitality were known far and wide. She had an open heart and a listening ear for anyone in need, offering help without seeking recognition. She was firm when she needed to be, but her advice always carried a touch of tenderness and profound wisdom that left a lasting impact on all who knew her. She was truly the glue of her family—their matriarch and their center, creating a legacy of love and selflessness that will endure for generations.
Lidia is now reunited in eternal peace with her beloved husband, Juan Hernandez Lopez Sr.; her parents, David and Elena Rangel; and her brothers, Israel Ray Rangel and Adan Rangel.
She leaves behind her cherished sons, Juan Lopez Jr. and his spouse, Barbara Lopez and Joey Lopez and his spouses, Bobby and Sean; her adored grandchildren, Matthew A. (Valeria) Tijerina, Vanessa Rae Lopez, and Juan J. Lopez III; and her precious great-grandchildren, Royce A. Tijerina, Everly R. Tijerina, and Jade L. Tijerina, who will carry forward her legacy of love.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have reached out with kindness, cooked meals, and offered their support during this time of grief.
