Leopoldo Medina

Leopoldo (Leo) T. Medina, Sr., of Corpus Christi, passed away suddenly on Saturday,October 8th, 2016, at the family ranch in Orange Grove, Texas. He was 85 years old. He was born on March 3, 1931, in Agua Dulce, Texas, to Juan and Celerina T. Medina.

He served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. Leopoldo was a self-taughtwelder and was employed with the Boilermakers Union Local #577 for many years. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Pablo Valadez, sister Santos Ramirez, and his great-granddaughter, Sydni Alexis Medina. He is survived by his wife of 63years, Minerva R. Medina, three siblings— Juan Medina, Jr., Antonio (Yolanda) Medina, and Enedina (Leonel) Santos, and seven children: Leo (Benita) Medina, Jr., Mary (Richard) Rosales, Valentin Medina, Oscar (Brenda) Medina, Irene (Rick) Martinez, Rachel (Manuel) Valdez, and Rick (Jan) Medina. Leopoldo is also survived by the greatest joys of his life, his nineteen grandchildren to whom he was affectionately known as “Wello” — Michael (Candy) Medina, Leo (Laurel)

Medina, III, Sandy (Jose) Fuentez, Melisa Rosales, Joe Richard (“J.R.”) Rosales Jr., Priscilla (Chris DeLaGarza III) Medina, Valentin Medina, Jr., Stacy (Cris) Lucas, Oscar (Maria) Medina, Jr., Stefanie Martinez, Christina Martinez, Rick Martinez, III, Lisa Jimenez, Manuel (“Trey”) Valdez, III, Jason Valdez, Shawna (Jeff) Grabowski, Ryan (Tiffany Chatterton), Devin and Kayla O'Donnell. As well as his seventeen great-grandchildren— Camryn, Liberty, Jonathon, Annika, Addilyn, Kristian, Gabriel, Joshua, Andrew, Sofia, Christopher IV, Jazzabelle, Derek, Cecilia, Oscar Ty, and Wyatt, and a future Baby Boy Rosales. Pallbearers will be Michael Medina, Leo Medina, III, Oscar Medina, Jr., Joe Richard ("J.R.") Rosales, Manuel ("Trey") Valdez, III, Valentin Medina, Jr., Rick Martinez, III, and Jason Valdez. Honorary Pallbearers include Leopoldo's sons and sons-in-law: Leo Medina, Jr., Valentin Medina, Oscar Medina, Rick Martinez Jr., Richard Rosales, ManuelValdez, and Rick Medina .

Family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, October 12, 21016 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Memory Gardens Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm that same evening.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at 10:00 am at Memory Gardens Chapel with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
