He was born in Skidmore, Texas on October 31, 1931.
Leonardo is preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Hector A. Vasquez in 2006 and Johnny E. Vasquez in 2011 and numerous siblings.
Leonardo leaves behind his family to cherish his memories, his wife, Dora Vasquez; mother of his children, Luz G. (Vasquez) Flores; his two sons, Leonardo Vasquez, Jr. and Israel (Denise) Vasquez of Lexington, KY; eight daughters, Patricia (Al) Meave, Irma (Roland) Medrano, Matilde (Rudel) PIlapil of Houston, Texas, Lisa (Hector) Garza of Gurnee, IL, Diana (Ruben) Galabeas, Lori (John) Ramirez, Amy (Johnny) DelaRosa and Leslie (Joey) Torres; daughter-in-law, Cindy R. Vasquez; stepchildren, Joe (Angie) Andy (Norma), Jerry (Elena) and Randy Perez; Norma (Baltazar) Bernal, Sylvia, Dora (Danny) Flores, Cyndi (Alonzo) Escobar and Julie Canales; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
The family would like to give thanks to the doctors and nurses at Christus Spohn South Hospital and Cimarron Place.
