Laura Kay Wilborn (Katie), age 80, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025. She was born May 17, 1944, to Joe Dale and Bertha Malcom in Great Bend, Kansas. Katie was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Loa Kelley, brothers John Malcom and William Malcom, as well as her spouses Arthur “Cotton” Wilborn and James Robert Eubank. Katie lived most of her life in Corpus Christi Texas, and was a proud graduate of Miller High School. Katie is survived by her sister Jo Lee, brother-in-law Richard Kelley, and her children Thomas (Erin), Tracey (Chris), Rhonda (Darrell), Debbie (Holly), and Michelle (Kenny). She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Katie was a loving wife, mom, sister and friend - and the best grandma to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was their biggest fan and attended as many of their events as she could. She was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan, and loved old country music. She enjoyed hobbies such as painting ceramics, sewing, and tending to her gardens and plants. Katie was a fantastic cook, and her chocolate chip cookies were beyond compare. Her greatest joy without a doubt was her family - time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her most favorite memories. A special thanks to Tribute Hospice for their wonderful care, especially her nurse Alana and chaplain Matthew who really brightened her day with their visits. Services will be Tuesday, April 1 at Funeraria Del Angel (4901 Everhart Road). Visitation will be at 12:30 with light refreshments. Services will begin at 1:30 with burial to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery (8200 Old Brownsville Road).
