Kevin Charles Fitzpatrick of Corpus Christi, Texas– dedicated husband, father, educator and friend of many passed away at age 64 on June 18th, 2023 in Paraguay, South America. He was born to proud parents Leo and Carlene Fitzpatrick on April 8th, 1959. He graduated from the University of Maryland and later became a teacher. Kevin was a Spanish and English teacher and carried many more teacher certifications including computer science. Not only did Kevin teach Spanish and English, he was impressively fluent in German, French and Portuguese. He worked for Corpus Christi Independent School District and throughout South Texas.
Kevin was married to the love of his life Cristina “Kiki” Fitzpatrick on July 24th, 1991. They said their vows at the Inmarulada Concepcion Church in Tobati, Paraguay. Kevin met Cristina while he was teaching a swimming class in Asuncion, the capital city of Paraguay. Cristina was working on her certification as a physical education teacher while also teaching a swimming class. Kevin saw her for the first time and knew he had to talk to her. Kevin asked the lifeguard on duty who she was and for her phone number. Ever since that time Kevin and Cristina were inseparable. Cristina became the love of Kevin’s life and cherished her for all 32 years.
Kevin proudly served his county in United States Air force and was stationed in Germany. One of the best memories of his life was serving in the military where he grew to love Germany. He went back to visit Germany many times throughout his life. Serving in the military gave him a want to travel even more. He traveled to Mexico, all around Europe including France, Switzerland, then Chile. Out of all of the countries he had been to Chile had a special place in his heart.
Kevin’s favorite hobbies were swimming, reading, gardening and collecting seeds. Kevin was always ready and eager for a friendly debate. His children described him as a curious, quick witted man who enjoyed deep conversations and loved to “argue”. They laughed saying one of his funny talents was to get friends and family into a controversial debate then leave the room; he was highly entertained by that.
Kevin is remembered by his children for his dedication to one of his son’s, Gabriel. Kevin and Gabriel spent the most time together with Kevin taking care of Gabriel due to him being autistic. Kevin did everything for Gabriel; always by his side taking him swimming and on rides in his Ram 2500 old diesel truck his children named “Betsy”. Kevin and Gabriel had a special bond that was seen by everyone who knew them both. He was wholeheartedly there for Gabriel.
Kevin is preceded in death by his parents Leo Joseph and Carlene Judith Fitzpatrick who his family feels peace knowing his strong faith in God has reunited them.
Kevin’s memory lives on with his wife Cristina “Kiki” Fitzpatrick; children Juan Francisco Fitzpatrick, Mary Eileen Iris Fitzpatrick, Caroline Maria Jose Fitzpatrick, Jose Antonio Fitzpatrick, Carlos Daniel Fitzpatrick, Kevin Gabriel Fitzpatrick, Elizabeth Lucia Fitzpatrick; siblings Eileen Turner (Sam), Leo Fitzpatrick, Richard Fitzpatrick (Nora), Dan Fitzpatrick (Tryna); and cherished grandchildren Maire Catalina Fitzpatrick and Francesco Yosef Fitzpatrick.
