Julio Mendoza of Port Aransas passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at his home after a long battle with diabetes. Julio was born to Cresencio and Felisa Mendoza on June 19, 1939 in Mexico City. The family moved to Corpus Christi in 1953. Julio began building houses with his brother-in-law and then went on his own and began J. Mendoza Construction Co. In 1971, he and his wife Yolanda moved to Port Aransas.
Julio is survived by his sister, Maria Luisa Nieto and his children, Fidel (Jeanette) Mendoza, Gloria (Rene) Recio, Javier (Stacey) Mendoza, Ruben (Leah) Mendoza, Yoli Mendoza, Raul (Jane) Mendoza, and Yvette (Noe) Jimenez. Also surviving him are his grandchildren, Tim (Amanda) Templeton, Chris (Rebecca) Templeton, Lisa Templeton, Gabriel Recio, Julian Mendoza, Rene Recio, Jr.,Joseph Mendoza, Michael Mendoza, Adriel Jimenez, and Benjamin Mendoza; great-grandchildren, Jerry Templeton, Hannah Templeton, Ethan Templeton, and Ali Templeton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Yolanda Mendoza, and his brother Juan Mendoza.
