He was born in Falfurrias, Texas on April 27, 1937, to the late Juan M. and Eva G. Maldonado.
Johnny was a resident of Corpus Christi for the last 55 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Roberto Rene and David; sisters, Raquel and Ma. Elma, brother-in-laws, George and Francisco and nephew Oscar.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories, ex-wife, Maria (Eddie) Perales, sister, Rebecca Casas, Zoila Villa; his only son, Leroy (Traci) Maldonado; his daughters, Melissa (Bobb) De La Cruz, Diana (Edward) Fiveash; grandsons, Robert, Jonathan, Michael De La Cruz and Anthony Fiveash; granddaughters, Andrea (Henry Brambilla), Heather De La Cruz, Ashley (Jeremy) Burney, Destiny Maldonado; great-grandsons, Hudson, Enrique and Taylor and countless family and friends.
Johnny was an iron worker, worked for Fulton, Braselton, F&E and CC Construction. He loved to dance quapangos, country and was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys.
Johnny was lovingly cared for by his daughter Melissa and son-in-law Bobb until his passing and he will be missed by all who had the pleasure of having known him. He was a loving Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, brother, uncle and friend not only to his family but to many people who enjoyed his warm and interesting stories.
Visitation will be on Monday, September 14, 2015 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
