Jose Rios Rodriguez, 81, passed away on July 15, 2023. He was born to Jose Maria Licon and Andrea Rios Rodriguez on November 17, 1941 in Alice, Texas. On June 12, 1962 he married his childhood sweetheart Maria Elena Garcia Rodriguez.
He is preceded in death by his parents Jose M. Licon and Andrea R. Rodriguez, sisters: Anita Trevino, Ercilia Garcia, Hermesinda Trejo, and His In-Laws: Augustine and Sofia Trejo Garcia.
Jose was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who loved the LORD and loved his family. Upholster by trade since the 60’s Jose loved restoring cars. When his sons were old enough, he taught them the Upholstery trade, as well as taught his daughters how to take seats apart. He often would have his grandchildren work alongside him. His love for the trade would inspire him to make purses out of leftover fabric he would get from his sons. These purses he would create were often given as gifts to his loved ones.
His Faith in Christ, allowed him to serve in many church ministries as Deacon, Royal Ambassador Leader, Royal Ranger Commander, Bus Ministry Driver, Prison Ministry, and Preached on La Tejanita Christian Radio station. As years passed, he attended and graduated from Bible School and became a Pastor of his own church “Adonai Worship Center” in Odem, Tx where love to preach and fellowship with his church family.
His hobbies were fishing, studying for Sunday and mid-week services, and working with his hands, he would build or paint anything that he thought his wife, daughter or granddaughter needed.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife of 61 years +7 years of courting, Maria Elena Garcia Rodriguez. Children: Jose Adan Rodriguez Sr., Mario (Yvonne) Rodriguez, Noemi Rodriguez, and Gloria Elena (Albert) Rodriguez Garcia. Grandchildren: Jose Adan (Veronica) Rodriguez Jr., Robyn Marie (Rene) Rodriguez Benitz, Christopher James Gomez, Aaron Mikkel Gomez, Mario Rodriguez II, Alorah “Lola” Dannielle Elena Rodriguez , Kay Lee Curtis, Dannielle and Henry Mendoza, Laura, Albert Jr., Moses and Nicole Garcia Great-Grandchildren: Alyssa Jade Benitez and Chalice Shine Ayala-Gomez. Niece: Jeannie JoAnn Rodriguez.
Living Siblings: Inez Pena, Maria Garza and Alfredo Rodriguez, numerous brothers & sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and many brothers & sisters in Christ.
Public visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Memorial Holly, 3442 Holly Road Corpus Christi, Texas 78415 on Saturday, August 19, 2023 from 4pm until 7pm with a prayer service at 5pm. Services will conclude at that time.
