Jose Francisco Perez

Jose "Joe" Francisco Perez of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away on December 12, 2017 at the age of 78. He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on September 15, 1939 to Catalina Rios Perez and Pedro Rangel Perez. He was preceded in death by his father, Pedro Perez; mother, Catalina Perez; brother, Jesse Perez; and sister, Gloria Perez. He is survived by his wife, Josie Perez, of Corpus Christi, Texas; daughter, Kim (David) Ochsner of Round Rock, Texas; son, Joey (Linda) Perez of Duncanville, Texas; daughter, Jessica (Dorian) Ramirez of Austin, Texas; son, Joshua Perez of Corpus Christi, Texas; and sister, Irma Yolanda (Gilbert) De Leon. He graduated from Roy Miller High School in 1959 and served in the U.S. Air Force. He married Josie Perez on July 21, 1963 and they were stationed in Maine. Joe received his Bachelor of Arts from T.A.M.U.C.C. and worked for the US Postal Service for 42 years before retiring in 2008. He also worked as a substitute teacher, coached little league and was a Camp Fire Girls leader. He loved singing and was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church 12:00 Choir, where he also served as a Lector, a member of the Corpus Christi Commodores Barbershop Chorus, and sang in the Jazz Mass held during the annual Texas Jazz Festival. He played many musical instruments and had an avid interest in world history, classic movies, and the Dallas Cowboys. Joe and Josie contributed to the Corpus Christi Symphony and loved attending performances at the Harbor Playhouse, Aurora Theater the Performing Arts Center. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home (8200 Old Brownsville Rd. Corpus Christi, Texas) with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 18, 2017 at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Services to conclude at church.
