Jose was an auto parts salesman for 54 years, with a majority of years served at Padre Island Supply. He loved gardening, BBQing, baseball, golf, and spending time with family; he loved horses and was a hard working, loving father, grandfather, uncle, husband and brother. He was quick to offer a warm smile and encouraging words. Our family would like to offer a special thank you to all those that have been so loving, compassionate and caring during our Papa’s illness. We appreciate all of the prayers, hugs and kind words. We are thankful to our understanding employers. Thank you to all of the caregivers who attended to our Papa’s care. A special thanks to Angel Bright Hospice Service for making our father’s transition home beautiful and peaceful. We humbly give thanks to our heavenly God the Father for blessing us with our Papa. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years Christina Talavera Cavazos, his parents, brothers: Gustavo Cavazos, Leonel Cavazos; sister Amalia Cavazos; and daughter in law Anne M. Skurka.
He is survived by his children Joe Ramon Cavazos, Ricardo Israel Cavazos, Darlene T.C. Loucks (Ervin Kenneth), Daniel C. Cavazos (Lesley) and John Yrineo Cavazos (Krishina); brothers and sisters: Melida Martinez, Eliberto Cavazos (Maria de Jesus), Abel Cavazos (Gloria), Emilio Cavazos (Susan), Samuel Cavazos (Maria), Aurora Wells (Howard); grandchildren: Benjamin Michael (Jennifer) Cavazos, Christopher Israel Cavazos, Laura Eileen Perez (Margarito), Star Celeste Loucks, Angel Christine Loucks, Christina Elise Cavazos; great-grand children: Serenity Sky Perez, Haley Nicole Perez, Leland Donavan Perez, Macy Anne Cavazos, Abigail Christine and Caitlyn Nicole Edwards; God-daughter Cynthia Marino; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at Funeraria del Angel Chapel from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm and will continue from 8:00 am to 10:30 am on Thursday, April 1, 2010, with a procession from the funeral home to South Shore Christian Center, 4710 S. Alameda. A Funeral Service will then be celebrated at 11:00 am with Reverend Joni Sutton presiding. Entombment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Papa we will miss you and anticipate our reunion with you and Mom one day. Until then, we will carry in our hearts the lessons you so simply and wisely taught us: “Trust in Jesus who is the author of our faith, love one another, value educations, and material things are just ‘things.”
“Keep watch over us and you will be missed very much. Love, Forever, Your Family”
