John R. Brooks

Brooks, John R. 68, died Sunday, February 8, 2015. He was born to a military family on January 8, 1947 to the late Jack L. and Elizabeth (Betty) Brooks at Aquadilla Borinquen Field, Puerto Rico.

With his family he lived around the world including Japan, Guam and then El Paso, Texas. He graduated from Burgess High School in El Paso in 1965. He served as a First Lieutenant in the US Army being honorably discharged in May 1969. Briefly John lived in Dallas, Texas working for Texas Instruments. He returned to El Paso to attend UTEP where he earned his Bachelor of Business degree in 1974. He had a successful business career in the Industrial sector until he retired in 2014. He spent his retirement with his family and friends enjoying his favorite activities of fishing, golfing and all things Dallas Cowboys.

John is survived by his wife of 44 years, Winnie; his daughter, Kelly Gani (Kirti), granddaughter, Grace; sister, Ann Pearson (Tony); brother, William Brooks (Margie); sister, Susan Yeager (Russ) and many nephews and nieces.

A memorial service in his honor will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Friday, February 13th at 11am.
