John David Allen went peacefully in his sleep to be with our Lord and Savior on July 23, 2013 at the age of 56. He was born October 2, 1956 to Refugia ”Cookie” Rodriguez in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was raised by his grandmother, Gonzala Rodriguez. John was a graduate from Foy H. Moody High School, class of 1974. After graduation he joined the United States Air Force and served his country for 4 years. He was stationed at Sheppard AFB where he worked at the medical facility as a Medical Services Specialist. After finishing his term with the Air Force he decided to stay in Dallas, Texas to pursue his medical career. While working at various hospitals he moonlighted as a waiter at very prestigious restaurants and that’s when he decided that he was making more money at the restaurants than as a medic, so he pursued the restaurant business. John also lived in Houston for several years before moving back to Corpus Christi to be with his family. He was a jack of all trades. He loved to cook for family gatherings and special occasions and his dishes were always superb. He also love to do carpentry and remodeling, taking after his grandfather, Idifonso Rodriguez and his two uncles. Gardening was another one of his pastimes and he had some beautiful plants to show for that. John had a great sense of humor and was a very funny man. He had a big heart and will be dearly missed by all who knew him and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, his grandparents, his brothers, Peter Munguia and Luis Aguirre, and two uncles.
