Jimmy A Merchant

Some people called him Jim, some called him Jimmy, others Dad or Papaw. No matter what you called Jimmy Allen Merchant, we all knew he was special. He loved everything about hunting and fishing and would happily share his passion with anyone willing to listen. He would spend as much time in a blind or on the water as he could. He made an impact on every person he met, from lifelong companions to strangers in the grocery store, he was a friend to all.

Jim was a devoted husband to Donna who was his best friend, confidant, and partner in life. To his children, Jimmy Jr. [dec.] (Wendy), Chris (Denice), Chester (Wendy), Tammy (Tavo), Jennifer (Natan), and Carleen, he was someone his kids could call on in times of need or an adventurous sidekick or a joke instigator. To his multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he was their number one fan. Attending and supporting their numerous life events. His memory will live on as they retell his many stories to their family and friends.

Jim valued his family, friends, and God. He was a U.S. Navy veteran who would do whatever he could to help anyone in need. The lives he touched cannot be counted. His reach cannot be measured. His light will shine on through the countless souls who were blessed to know him. Everyone who knew him, has a story of how he impacted their lives.

Pallbearers (Grandsons): Justin Jackson, Kyle Jackson, Cody Jackson, David Jackson, Jake Lindberg, Austin Merchant, Ridge Merchant, and Brandon Loveday.

Services will be held Monday, November 13, 2023 at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, TX 78415. We encourage everyone attending the funeral to wear your favorite camo in support of Jim’s love of hunting.

A public visitation for Jimmy will be held Monday, November 13, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Memory Gardens Funeral Home & Cemetery, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415. A funeral service will occur Monday, November 13, 2023 at 2:00 PM, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415. An interment will occur Monday, November 13, 2023 at 3:00 PM, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415.
