Janie Hernandez Gil

She was a graduate of West Oso High School and attended Del Mar College. She was a member of St. Peter’s Food Pantry, St. Peter’s Altar Society, and a Eucharistic Minister at St. Peter’s. Janie was also an avid gardener and crafter.

She is preceded in death by her father, Juan Hernandez; grandmother, Guadalupe Rodriguez; maternal grandparents, Armando and Soledad Cantu; father-in-law, Juan Gil; sister-in-law, Yolanda Gil and brother-in-law, Rick Gil.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband of 37 years, Rodolfo Gil; children, Jackie, Jennifer, and Janelle Gil, mother, Celia Hernandez; sisters, Mary Lou Hernandez, Alice (Luis) Hernandez-Sepulveda; brothers, Juan (Elizabeth) Hernandez, Jr., and Rey Hernandez; nieces, Johnalynn (Nir) Leibovich, Jessica L. Hernandez, Erica (Michael) Blanco, Stephanie Gil, Sarah H. Sepulveda, Victoria N. Hernandez; nephews, John Hernandez, Christopher Hernandez, Alonzo Gil, Jr., Ernest Gil, Jr. Rick Gil, Jr., Louie Sepulveda, Juan A. Hernandez; mother-in-law, Guadalupe Gil; brothers-in-law, Alonzo Gil, Ernest (Gloria) Gil, Javier Gil;, sisters-in-law, Rosie Gil and Esmeralda Gil.

A special thanks to her doctors and nurses at Christus Spohn Shoreline and M.D. Anderson Hospital.

Honoring her as pallbearers are Alonzo Gil, Ernest Gil, Javier Gil, Rene Peña, John Hernandez, Christopher Hernandez, Louie Sepulveda, and Juan A. Hernandez.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking that a donation be made to the Food Pantry at St. Peter’s Prince of the Apostle Catholic Church.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Funeraria Del Angel-Memorial Holly chapel, visitation will resume at 6:00 p.m. at St. Peter Prince of the Apostle Catholic Church with a rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 8, 2013 at St. Peter Prince of the Apostle Catholic Church. Interment services will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
